A Murder Mystery:

This past weekend, Mr JP and I got to play parts in a murder mystery date!
The murder took place in Chicago so there was deep-dish pizza for dinner, 1920's music, and the best part- Chicago accents! (which I was really good at, I'll have you know... haha...)
Each person was assigned a character and you had to dress up and act the part.

It was hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard in a while!
Thanks Molly Jane for planning the whole thing :)

Mid-Week Date Night

On Thursday I managed to tear Mr. JP away from the TV for approximately 45 minutes (March Madness might be the end of me...) and we went on a little date to the Malt Shoppe!

I got an Orange Creamsickle shake and
he originally claimed he didn't want one, and then somehow ended up with a butterscotch-cookie dough

We were entertained by observing and commenting on the un-proportionally high amount of awkward first dates occurring around us, which was quite hilarious, and it made me think about our first date (which took place at iHop, in case you were wondering) but I don't think we were quite as awkward as some of the interactions we witnessed at the Malt Shoppe...
:)
Happy Weekend!

A Little Treat

Mr. JP is turning 26 next week... and you know what that means - the government is kicking him off his parents insurance.
ha! just kidding.

It actually means that I get spoiled too because his parents took the family out to dinner to celebrate, and guess who's part of the family now? Me!
I am still getting used to that, even if it has been almost 7 months.

We've both been trying to cut back a bit when it comes to desserts (we were getting a little out of control there for a few weeks) but since we were celebrating Mr. JP's birthday, we decided a little after-dinner-treat was absolutely necessary.
So we made a detour on the way home.
And to tell you the truth, I don't regret it one little bit :)

If you look real close, you can have the privilege of seeing Mr. JP's mustache...
which I *love so much and hope it stays there forever.

replace with:  *really despise and might have to resort to shaving it off myself.

Don't Go Breaking My Heart

This past weekend we decided to continue the one-year-old tradition of making heart shaped pizza's for Valentine's day.

Last year's date was quite successful if you ask me: 9 couples came and 5 of them ended up getting married to each other!
This year was a bit more low key, but I absolutely loved it that way.
Cooking with Mr. JP always makes me laugh, because he is very serious about his food; I was hardly allowed to touch our pizza!
We also have completely different tastes so our pizza was split right down the middle haha.

We matched. Not even planned.

Hope your Valentine's Day is lovely!

Firehouse Subs

It's just one of those weeks.

Last week, I made dinner 4 times (What? You think I deserve a medal? Me too.)
And this week it seems I am lucky if I remember to eat dinner haha.
So last night, not wanting to break the streak and heat the stove up, we went out!
To Firehouse Subs to be exact.
I've been wanting to try it for a while and it definitely didn't disappoint.
(the Haagan Das shake from Smash Burger I had for dessert didn't disappoint either...shh)

Oh and um, the hats aren't just for kids...

Sundance Film Festival

Jean Paul and I have gone to the Sundance Film Festival for a few years now, and I seriously look forward to it every year. This year it was a blizzard! Which made the drive up slightly dangerous and waiting in line freezing cold. But after eating dinner at our favorite bagel shop in Park City and purchasing some Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate we were good to go haha.

One of the reasons I love going to the film festival is because of the people up there. We've met people from all over the United States!  They come to Park City specifically for the festival and it is so interesting talking to them about which celebrities they've seen, where they've eaten, what movies they've liked, etc.

Yesterday we spoke with a couple who had seen Dustin Hoffman, Tinie Tempah, and Harvey Weinstein at their hotel that morning, and then later we were sitting next to a group of girls who won backstage passes to meet Drake! c  r  a  z  y.

Seeing the movies at the festival is incredible because since it is the world premier of the film, the director is there, along with the writers, actors, etc. And they sit in the theater and watch the film with the audience and answer questions after. I love it.
This year we got tickets to see "Lay the Favorite" which was a really outstanding film.
Bruce Willis, Rebecca Hall, Catherine Zeta Jones, Vince Vaughn, and Joshua Jackson all starred in the film, and you can read a synopsis of it here
We loved it! Definitely the best we've seen out of all the years we've gone.

So blurry... My apologies.

Guy on the far left? That's Bruce Willis!

Bruce is the guy with no hair+ the scarf + white shirt

This is how we bid farewell to 2011...

We went on a little Chipotle-Nordstrom Rack-Hot Chocolate date and finished out 2011 with style!
